There's this huge hype about cupcakes and yes, I'll admit that they taste good and they're fun to eat, but what's the big deal? I stopped by a local cupcake place near my house, and I would have to say it was nothing special. Of course they were delicious, but it wasn't worth $4.00 per cupcake. The cupcakes compared to the pre-made box you buy at the grocery store, you know... the ones with the extra sweet frosting that no one really knows what's in them and the ones your mom buys for your 3rd grade class when its your birthday? Those. They taste pretty much the same, its all relative...nonetheless I'm still on the lookout for a cupcake that has yet to "wow" my tastebuds.Pamelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03475391517220858197noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1572266489502436816.post-42711164286243278752010-07-01T16:30:00.000-04:002010-07-01T16:30:44.895-04:00Shots shots shots! Austin Baby!! I always manage to have a fun and crazy time when I visit this place... its so relaxing and chill at the same time its also party central. I was also enamored with the cool bars that were lit up from underneath, which really adds a neat ambience to the place. Dear Austin, I'll be back soon! I must say, the food was exquisite! I had the Dinner Prix Fixe which is three courses for $35 bucks...not bad at all<br />
<br />
First Course: Red Wine Braised Octopus<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3c5vQZbCpjmLg-StDIQ5sb-GFo2qxvF44ZVHObkssyzL1FD8Bz-DB1B0mjI_3RtRw4GoCKu0ydvmrTJ7lLQgASAEfX7zfH67OVA19rQdUGqkZsrRfxoKhFp4ZSIDeQE7BqJa-DGOP0kee/s1600/photo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3c5vQZbCpjmLg-StDIQ5sb-GFo2qxvF44ZVHObkssyzL1FD8Bz-DB1B0mjI_3RtRw4GoCKu0ydvmrTJ7lLQgASAEfX7zfH67OVA19rQdUGqkZsrRfxoKhFp4ZSIDeQE7BqJa-DGOP0kee/s640/photo.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
This was my second time having tried octopus, but this time it tasted more like dense tuna and less chewy like calamari.<br />
<br />
Second Course: Goat Cheese Ravioli<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS25YJ2_HPam1Z9P8HpyOpr9Ck6TpoNE2vk_5dfbdbGQUFmfZkm_bXV401mHgBg4YPDe6u0slVJTMYco389cLIdXxagl3-IRD_JTRX52C1cpFXZVn6USX1Eu3hm9J-DjBqJqxeQov184kv/s1600/photo+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS25YJ2_HPam1Z9P8HpyOpr9Ck6TpoNE2vk_5dfbdbGQUFmfZkm_bXV401mHgBg4YPDe6u0slVJTMYco389cLIdXxagl3-IRD_JTRX52C1cpFXZVn6USX1Eu3hm9J-DjBqJqxeQov184kv/s640/photo+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>If you're a goat cheese fan, then you're going to LOVE this dish...I have to admit I'm not a huge goat cheese fan since the smell of goat cheese is really pungent and it has such a strong distinct taste, but the fresh pasta paired with vegetables mitigated the strong goat cheese flavor.<br />
<br />
Second Course (Tabi) : Pan Roasted Atlantic Salmon (cooked well done!) <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAbi4zC65nD21Q8rAbRQh_rdG1KFH7SNgLp_pmqOW3w4Nmgd9kUcX831IgLtsTH1rBvvWUf6bj3NJnHg8FiuKqRAg16ADsjDxexMEFiO1JVn1lDWZijycN0WWUAEx_ruXGIUSVyWNgGWfx/s1600/photo+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAbi4zC65nD21Q8rAbRQh_rdG1KFH7SNgLp_pmqOW3w4Nmgd9kUcX831IgLtsTH1rBvvWUf6bj3NJnHg8FiuKqRAg16ADsjDxexMEFiO1JVn1lDWZijycN0WWUAEx_ruXGIUSVyWNgGWfx/s640/photo+4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3iAlZ8xG20_Z068IwH6Hem5283zuw5TeALMP3_jFAtyd7G5lhwZSzgamnm6w03szDU5Hl4xzlYmiwyqzlnmrr6VD63rnJpR-Griv1R6ryLMKqmXU_JTNhpZiHP3pESMCmlaEDIC0_CUdx/s1600/photo+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3iAlZ8xG20_Z068IwH6Hem5283zuw5TeALMP3_jFAtyd7G5lhwZSzgamnm6w03szDU5Hl4xzlYmiwyqzlnmrr6VD63rnJpR-Griv1R6ryLMKqmXU_JTNhpZiHP3pESMCmlaEDIC0_CUdx/s640/photo+3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>I was able to steal a couple of bites from my cousin's dish who was generous enough to share some with me. The salmon when paired with the caramelized beet and apple chutney create a balanced sweet/salty hybrid. <br />

You know its baseball season when the streets of Boston are filled with rowdy fans sporting their best Red Sox gear. Landsdowne emits a smell of a blend of beer and sausages, while large crowds shuffle into the stadium. Its hard to be impartial walking down these streets, how can you take part in such a legendary rivalry without picking a side? <br />
<br />
I finally had my first curbside sausage in Boston, and I have to admit, it was worth it. A little overpriced, but something everyone needs right after a night of drinking and celebrating. <br />
<br />
I'm glad baseball season is back into the swing of things, but I will miss the aura and the character that Fenway Park brings to Boston. I will miss the essence of the rivalry, because I've discovered in rivalry we find unity, and that is what the Red Sox fans have kept strong since the emergence of baseball. (pretty much since they won the first world series in 1903) Pamelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03475391517220858197noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1572266489502436816.post-24129475802696135202010-04-26T13:38:00.000-04:002010-04-26T13:38:42.236-04:00Home is where the food is<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Houston, TX<br />
<br />
I got a nice break from the muggy rainy Boston spring weather and went home to sunny Houston, TX for a weekend. People say that Houston is one of most diverse cities in the U.S. which is something I can definitely vouch for, given the food that I consumed throughout my weekend there.<br />
<br />
Day 1: Chinese, King Bo II restaurant in Sugar Land, TX <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_KBzCGiWSMjKa_NiGPnw0qcdDfn3QnaH65uM_o1KxqyDwbewmHcZ64C_SwIV2HKgy3i94DgqxJqSQBgpxZn2pkbYdYYtbfKc4MJPyghQBCoHtYFByNpr62DXwhS1JBItARsHjeArPUvLU/s1600/photo+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_KBzCGiWSMjKa_NiGPnw0qcdDfn3QnaH65uM_o1KxqyDwbewmHcZ64C_SwIV2HKgy3i94DgqxJqSQBgpxZn2pkbYdYYtbfKc4MJPyghQBCoHtYFByNpr62DXwhS1JBItARsHjeArPUvLU/s640/photo+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Local chinese food around the corner from my house...I've never been their for lunch, but my parents wanted to wine and dine, so... no complaints! So, this meal is $6.50 and let me tell you what you get....1. soup or salad 2. crab rangoon or egg rolls 3. white rice or fried rice 4. choice of an entree. ALL FOR $6.50! Pictured above fried rice, crab rangoon, and sesame chicken. Slightly pictured: jasmine tea. Not pictured: egg drop soup = so yummy.<br />
<br />
Day 2: Italian, Brio in Memorial area Houston, TX <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxxmhnJ9Fj_D-B10IK-Q6gFzCAlEp7kUL86-uoS2n57V6bH8iUja_F8om_dn_wj6nfIlCxszet7lF5yNOsWC0MfT3w7Hl5yK2hIVIItUB77LUC6olsFbptzGonaHxvT5DOiCRUmtze6oUu/s1600/photo+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxxmhnJ9Fj_D-B10IK-Q6gFzCAlEp7kUL86-uoS2n57V6bH8iUja_F8om_dn_wj6nfIlCxszet7lF5yNOsWC0MfT3w7Hl5yK2hIVIItUB77LUC6olsFbptzGonaHxvT5DOiCRUmtze6oUu/s640/photo+3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
A little background on the city of Houston: its a little mix of everything... you have suburbia, the city, the country, all in one big city. They recently developed this placed called Town and Country in Memorial where my mom looooooves to have lunch with her other desperate housewives (ok only 50% true), but its super chic and posh and filled with great food!<br />
<br />
We went to this place called Brio I ordered the Pasta Carbonara, and after just coming back from Rome... this pasta felt just like Italy! You can really tell when a restaurant uses fresh pasta and fresh ingredients in their dishes, it makes a big difference, and its really worth it! Not pictured: the great dessert trio we devoured because it was just so delectable and my stomach was thinking for me at the time, but it consisted of 2 nutella cannolis (um.. SO GOOD), bread pudding, and creme brulee. Each had an Italian twist to it, molto buono!<br />
<br />
Day 3: TEX MEX the last day... Pappasitos- Sugar Land, TX <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhfsKwrOOqOA_E3FqHAXOfQv0omfuhqYyS6HK_kBUx77vBLHe1CziUEKciGwQH1_22NzSBtucufUd11AiMM4OSJk7faMaMcAQPv6pw2xg5B0N8N5WgvkU9CCVQMaDWSQhbA2gfcJnORx42/s1600/photo+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhfsKwrOOqOA_E3FqHAXOfQv0omfuhqYyS6HK_kBUx77vBLHe1CziUEKciGwQH1_22NzSBtucufUd11AiMM4OSJk7faMaMcAQPv6pw2xg5B0N8N5WgvkU9CCVQMaDWSQhbA2gfcJnORx42/s640/photo+4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div> Living in Boston, a girl doesn't get much Tex Mex... or she gets really bad Tex Mex. Its not the same in Boston, they can't replicate it, never have, never will, but its fine because I still love Boston and their fabulous lobsters.<br />
Anyways, pictured above was my brother's meal - or remnants of his meal, because my stomach thinks before my brain does and I forget to capture the fabulous fajitas my mom and I split (sizzling on a platter, with grilled onions, and a side of melted butter *droool*) Ok, so I believe he had a quesadilla platter with a taco and extra filling...um, all for like $7.50 (p.s. you can tell my parents live for lunch specials, and this place had lunch specials on a Sunday! Its rare to find Sunday lunch specials so... cure that hang over, and after church get some tex mex at Pappasitos! worth. it. ) <br />
<br />
Houston is worth visiting y'all!Pamelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03475391517220858197noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1572266489502436816.post-47136004359374964872010-04-21T23:16:00.002-04:002010-04-21T23:25:54.816-04:00VIVA ITALIA!!!Can I just say something? Italian food is the best food in the world. HANDS DOWN. I spent 10 days in Italy and had the amazing opportunity to enjoy a real homemade Italian meal. There are a couple of things you have to understand about Italian eating.Pretty much, Italians have several courses in ONE sitting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxvlQsEfQDw9k06jv3H8jbiu3qupWZZrPz03-mM2aKTLLHLELBdukiK3fcX9rB5G3o9IcKB9VmWwtWdd3qBK6V2NIIzsu0Xc13vq7Ee38D40aWDudax-kQPbMds5if5Pz4vzgIjd7NBEto/s1600/rome+951.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxvlQsEfQDw9k06jv3H8jbiu3qupWZZrPz03-mM2aKTLLHLELBdukiK3fcX9rB5G3o9IcKB9VmWwtWdd3qBK6V2NIIzsu0Xc13vq7Ee38D40aWDudax-kQPbMds5if5Pz4vzgIjd7NBEto/s640/rome+951.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Check out this casa, so gorgeous... I want to live here!<br />
<br />
1. Ok, you start with the pasta, in this case Lasagna. By the way, this was the best lasagna I've ever had! The sauce wasn't too tart, and there was just the right amount of meat and cheese. Oh and the pasta was cooked perfectly, so fresh, so good. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVTHwajhY1SzNHZriEfwHpHy8N9vwc9lN0uKm4PoR-6S0gjZ-2UcN-Tjp4RDzBPM4DB8VOTVSDiNkMDShDO3FtRQnA5zEYNgRAFgjPNPz63S1KzNElE3XgX0QTntHhB9vq5a71Brg4iQCa/s1600/rome+957.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVTHwajhY1SzNHZriEfwHpHy8N9vwc9lN0uKm4PoR-6S0gjZ-2UcN-Tjp4RDzBPM4DB8VOTVSDiNkMDShDO3FtRQnA5zEYNgRAFgjPNPz63S1KzNElE3XgX0QTntHhB9vq5a71Brg4iQCa/s640/rome+957.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
2. The family set up a grand dining table of food to feast on AFTER the meal:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhos2ghCm1qHQy-fRT4chJYIzHyLyjNb-S7LDj6cbsp4BLM1FcKbnWvdL7qQnf77ifTGO-W9Hi7ILG5Ll53WL7nWW3najLv-UZlbD4nVDt3ZzhxLnolDCkqVmPSkCXnMdkg3tbX8crCeuYp/s1600/rome+955.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhos2ghCm1qHQy-fRT4chJYIzHyLyjNb-S7LDj6cbsp4BLM1FcKbnWvdL7qQnf77ifTGO-W9Hi7ILG5Ll53WL7nWW3najLv-UZlbD4nVDt3ZzhxLnolDCkqVmPSkCXnMdkg3tbX8crCeuYp/s640/rome+955.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju6NdQ1y53CNYh8X2c4995tq1yuDbFv6hS9RpTvhplYLIZ228MI3H01NtMXOz5Y733rqlte-R_FSbkIHm4h7gw8I4QUghixHtRvsp_EftNvFBhuyVzMvOgy2lBXUGL5-BS1DBA1YixlOT7/s1600/rome+958.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju6NdQ1y53CNYh8X2c4995tq1yuDbFv6hS9RpTvhplYLIZ228MI3H01NtMXOz5Y733rqlte-R_FSbkIHm4h7gw8I4QUghixHtRvsp_EftNvFBhuyVzMvOgy2lBXUGL5-BS1DBA1YixlOT7/s640/rome+958.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-9wpW49XpOANn-fjUy5lI5tzhKqtCnEvVsxifVUTJnG4ZYm2QyuOQg6-JtkBTekRGd2O8D4N85N9dan8s7d_tVZ_Er7bzHYqOBZo7y-R1oEMgmAfEFshSG2OeC6R8ekMMwYWE9CHRdlkJ/s1600/rome+961.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-9wpW49XpOANn-fjUy5lI5tzhKqtCnEvVsxifVUTJnG4ZYm2QyuOQg6-JtkBTekRGd2O8D4N85N9dan8s7d_tVZ_Er7bzHYqOBZo7y-R1oEMgmAfEFshSG2OeC6R8ekMMwYWE9CHRdlkJ/s640/rome+961.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>So, as you can see from the above pictures there was an assortment of great great food. Mozzarella, foccacia, salad, beans (like special Italian beans) which you eat with parmegiano reggiano, spicy prosciutto, non spicy proscuitto ( which the family made themselves, somehow?), there was also sun dried tomatoes (homemade), and this other sort of bread... which you eat the cheese and the prosciutto with. I need to adopt this family and have them introduce this to the US because it was delectable. Molto buono! <br />
<br />
3. Dessert<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinqC-MhXYdZsO8AfwxDJhKuV9MPHHvglanDZbdF1Bzwezz1g3FqwBYjwsaKVihq0IeTNLdFB687Cjop4NsX0B7NqUprFAhJUSy7J6HFVNifCCAFnSZry2HX9FKUcF_rLV-TIW0mZCTU9DH/s1600/rome+969.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinqC-MhXYdZsO8AfwxDJhKuV9MPHHvglanDZbdF1Bzwezz1g3FqwBYjwsaKVihq0IeTNLdFB687Cjop4NsX0B7NqUprFAhJUSy7J6HFVNifCCAFnSZry2HX9FKUcF_rLV-TIW0mZCTU9DH/s640/rome+969.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />

The cake was almost like a pie- in the sense that it was dense but light at the same time, had an egg custard taste to it and wasn't too sweet.<br />

Its small, but strong...so, beware! Brewed to perfection (in a french press, on a stove), end the meal in the most relaxing way possible. This is the life!<br />

Ever been to Whole Foods and wonder how they make these amazing cakes? Well, last week when I was there I met a group of pretty cool guys who worked at the bakery...and they bake everything there! I would love to come in for a demonstration or a small class to learn how to bake these cakes.Pamelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03475391517220858197noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1572266489502436816.post-5956917568245571152010-04-16T18:15:00.002-04:002010-04-16T18:21:27.356-04:00The shortest season.The days that we get so little of...<br />

I mean, its kind of gorgeous. Boston is a completely different city when the sun decides to shine...it may be 50 degrees outside, but that doesn't stop girls from coming out in dresses, shorts, and hats. The month of April is fully dedicated to these beautiful blossoms...they come, they go, then it rains. =(Pamelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03475391517220858197noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1572266489502436816.post-54431476334060927932010-04-06T22:48:00.003-04:002010-04-13T23:50:27.755-04:00Gelato = better than American ice cream<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdaYFKvUMNnV3XotmZ5MRcshe2roeFWiYr8VarooxUFZMdzP0biwwtrFnsT0NtVwAooShu46KVS8Bb_u7yM3mdYTXgQrXHkc3ZdUNIv3eTVXCs59YGdp8V41AyZqgofdIR9kKDdAoKcVDv/s1600/photo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdaYFKvUMNnV3XotmZ5MRcshe2roeFWiYr8VarooxUFZMdzP0biwwtrFnsT0NtVwAooShu46KVS8Bb_u7yM3mdYTXgQrXHkc3ZdUNIv3eTVXCs59YGdp8V41AyZqgofdIR9kKDdAoKcVDv/s400/photo.jpg" width="300" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBo-yjNTE2gunRWs5Y2n7WGp7TWR4JIuCXaACai7ORhA9r0aGN24AgKlLv2kVG0IYv3xyQo2BzJFB0-_ZGTceP7eZgXUOFi5Wtiqh9U90kuWBoK6RGbLHK5zUZscUo-T_RQT1PJ_H733Tp/s1600/photo+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBo-yjNTE2gunRWs5Y2n7WGp7TWR4JIuCXaACai7ORhA9r0aGN24AgKlLv2kVG0IYv3xyQo2BzJFB0-_ZGTceP7eZgXUOFi5Wtiqh9U90kuWBoK6RGbLHK5zUZscUo-T_RQT1PJ_H733Tp/s400/photo+3.jpg" width="300" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE1raUbsDMAD6dbzewPg93nHQRsTrm3_V43bdUwPR9xUlHxNBLzLCt8ME198gucT-zvejldr8KCPBacMCFYrQHFuTZtQU82-jXOcQ2s5Km6yQ3JlKW_EwzFyDNa7jWvFEq6uSMrAFWiwKQ/s1600/photo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE1raUbsDMAD6dbzewPg93nHQRsTrm3_V43bdUwPR9xUlHxNBLzLCt8ME198gucT-zvejldr8KCPBacMCFYrQHFuTZtQU82-jXOcQ2s5Km6yQ3JlKW_EwzFyDNa7jWvFEq6uSMrAFWiwKQ/s400/photo.jpg" width="400" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHm17pV8XVzmJjkXGtUDz4e6XHqgCGc7l7Xl-66vWNlODauUXRPVRpmqyar8sFxo4wr4ks1jjBDcGV8s6LFLb7B1d4HcEg7-LbObd3Qx-QrW5b9sNUze8OM0wDVcBpMTr6WzpkQ69SUKb6/s1600/photo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHm17pV8XVzmJjkXGtUDz4e6XHqgCGc7l7Xl-66vWNlODauUXRPVRpmqyar8sFxo4wr4ks1jjBDcGV8s6LFLb7B1d4HcEg7-LbObd3Qx-QrW5b9sNUze8OM0wDVcBpMTr6WzpkQ69SUKb6/s400/photo.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br />
So I just got back from Rome and had the opportunity to experience a gelateria on literally every block. Gelato, I would have to say is its own species...I think its a lot better than "ice cream" even though it technically meaaaannns ice cream, yeah its not. The featured flavors above are pistachio and hazelnut, pronounced "pis-ta-kee-oh" apparently.Pamelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03475391517220858197noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1572266489502436816.post-47471574886893496932010-03-21T19:05:00.005-04:002010-03-22T17:42:50.294-04:00Farmer's MarketThe city of Boston does a complete 180 when the temperature reaches 70 degrees. Fair enough, so this weekend the days were spent primarily outside and at our favorite venue... basically, wherever there is food.<br />
<br />
1. Dim Sum (hangover cure)<br />
2. Tapioca ( why not)<br />
3. Farmer's Market ( a must)<br />
<br />
Highlights of the farmer's market: <br />
<br />
I love the farmer's market because you get fresh produce for cheap! I probably save a good $20-$30 on grocery's by shopping here. I also love the aura of the place- all the colors, textures, smells of fruits and veggies really encapsulates the novelty behind the place. Another great aspect are the vendors themselves....constantly yelling out (in a boston accent of course), smoking cigarettes, being pushy like in the movie Aladdin.<br />

Every other week I go to the market to buy salmon, but this week they were out!! Such a travesty on all levels....because its lenten season and I need my fish fix. Anyways, this guy was there and I forced him to hold up a fish head hehe, well it made my day and I hope he got a kick out of some crazy asian lady forcing him to take a pic. ALSO... this man LOOKS like a real fisherman-with the beard, hat, and just the features of his face. His name is probably John, last name Silver, im putting money on it.Pamelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03475391517220858197noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1572266489502436816.post-48737833897133131812010-03-14T18:44:00.002-04:002010-03-22T17:29:47.833-04:00Sundays and Apple Pie<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjui3oRhQoeg3mojS_P_8dezaVAvi5leu9608ny4KEITIosXbK6d65iIAeBm_ve2_L1JON3MV-yQMmV_P-yWeQZs3W6yFmVY8VQdBrFVB35rlTl3u4p2HIBGAX0wt5Y6y0-U2W1d7gBOYMf/s1600-h/photo.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5448626894333591426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjui3oRhQoeg3mojS_P_8dezaVAvi5leu9608ny4KEITIosXbK6d65iIAeBm_ve2_L1JON3MV-yQMmV_P-yWeQZs3W6yFmVY8VQdBrFVB35rlTl3u4p2HIBGAX0wt5Y6y0-U2W1d7gBOYMf/s800/photo.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 300px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a><br />

Purely, because I like keeping a journal, but I hate physically writing... typing = so easy.<br /><br />I used to work Sunday mornings at the library (12pm is considered Sunday morning) and the first thing I have to do is:<br />1. update the stamps, meh... not so fun =(<br />2. OPEN THE SUNDAY PAPER =)<br /><br />Wow, so I decided that hmm I love the Sunday Paper, its unlike any other day of the week, there are so many sections and added benefits. also p.s., I get to open the Boston Globe <span style="font-style: italic;">and</span> The New York Times = win win. From this moment I decided- this is a little thing in life that I love, reading the Sunday paper, looking at the coupons and deals of the week... reading movie critiques, attempting the impossible crossword puzzle while- ahh sipping on my coffee = absolute bliss.<br /><br />This inspired me to write down a list of the little things in life that I love, and so whenever I stumble upon this "little thing in life that i love" I should write it down, document it, unagi it.<br /><br />First on my list: The Sunday Paper<br />The Sunday paper is like a good friend you see only so often, but whenever you see them its always good conversation, fun times, relaxing - carefree almost.
